I just started restoring this trunk. It is in pretty bad shape. I don't know anything about how old or the name of the trunk. It doesn't have any stamps or markings on it. It is wood covered with leather. The body is blue leather and the trim around the edge is black leather. Is there anyone out there with any knowledge about this type of trunk ?
I don't believe your trunk is leather, it is vulcanized fiber, used on trunks sense 1890's or so, very durable and weather resistant, your trunk trunk is from around 1950's give or take a bit, this type of trunk was made by many trunk mfrs. without a label hard to say, greendog.
Thank you for the info. I am not familiar with vulcanized fiber. I looked up vulcanized fiber trunk and found two that looks almost like mine. Thank you so much. Now I know not to replace the back and one end with leather, I will get the fiber.
Hi Greendog, Have you ever bought any of the vulcanized fiber, I am having a problem locating it.
No I've never tried, and I don't think it's anything your going to find anywhere, greendog
Thank you greendog for taking the time to answer me back.
