I’ve recently acquired this painting at a local estate. I’m not really and art buff but I did find it an attractive piece. When I got home and researched the name I was speechless. Now I just gotta find out how to confirm its history. Piece is about 24x20 has a label from a store that I was able to research was a major furnish and design store for the rich and famous back in the day in NYC. I was hoping to share and see what others thought.
what would concern me is the way the canvas looks and the back of the frame - it looks like it's been stained to make it look old. the signature also looks pretty fake. your chances of finding a large Edgar Payne painting are so slim. don't get your hopes up.
