This grand mosaic graces on the entryways of the former Woolworth's store of Kingston, PA. This store closed in the late 50s, and thankfully, all of the successive owners have maintained the tilework. This could use a little occasional cleaning, but at least it is still in place.
Great honeycomb tile entrance. We had FW Woolworth stores here in NY thru the late 70s I believe, wonderful old-time luncheon counter & super burgers
Thank you, Newfld. It is great to find such artifacts, and to share them. There was a Woolworth's in Wilkes-Barré that sounded similar to the one that you had referred to. Yes, they were great stores!
Though now a Barnes and Noble, that WB storefront still retains, in good shape, a great Woolworth's mosaic. Some Sunday, when there is less foot traffic, I will try to photograph that entryway. It is a real beauty!
Thank you for posting your most appreciated recollections of the Woolworth's lunch counter!
Thinking back, I worked in WB in 1976, and remember that Woolworth's, which was still going strong...and the food was tasty, too!
Thank you, Thomas...what you say is true!
Thank you all, for tour loves of this mosaic!
