I picked up this Victorian photo album at an auction years ago, and was touched by all of the family notes that someone maybe Marth? had bothered to write in the margins. I was able to do a little research and found a Martha Virginia Topping born in 1886 in Phoebus, Virginia, died May 1965 in Pennsylvania. Most of the photos that are cards seem to come from that area as well. MOst are cardboard cabinet card types, at least 4 or 5 are on metal. Photos are not my forte so I was hoping that someone would be able to look at the pnes Ive posted and give me a date range for when they might have been taken? Ill put them up in 2 or more posts so I can give a good range of what I think are the older and younger ones.
Two other things of interest, one of the photos is of a young woman who appears to have a different or mixed ethnicity, and some of the ohotos are of the same person taken at different ages in life so you can see them as teenagers to adults
Nice album.
The loose tintypes (not in cases) are 1870s- 90s.
Other images (cabinet cards and cdvs) can be more accurately dated based on the characteristics of the mount and photographer back mark.
Thanks for sharing.
