    We picked this up at a garage sale. I researched the Knapp joinery and it seems that would date this piece to 1880-1900. There are no identifying tags on the piece and it is in pretty good overall shape considering it's likely age. It's solid oak and has had some amateur repairs over the years.

      Those are called pin and cove dovetails. They started using them in the 1880's but they were used well beyond that. Your piece has a two rib cut top and bottom of each drawer which helps speak for it's age. Newer ones normally have three ribs.

      Many names, but Knapp joint is correct as well. The joint and machine to make it was patented by a Mr. Knapp in the late 1860s. The Knapp joint was a popular machine made "dovetail" that was heavily produced beginning in the 1870s.
