Hi everyone and hope you're all well. Apologies for the 'radio silence' but been working extremely hard this past couple of months. Decided to pop to the flea market last Sunday for a bit of R&R, as I hadn't been for quite a while. I got hold of these rather splendid additions for my collection, and would like to share them with you.
Sorry about the yellowish hue to the photos, I took them back at home rather than in the office and I guess due to softer lighting, they have come out a bit dull.
Anyway, first up is the British Leyland ceramic ashtray. It's bordering on NOS as there's absolutely no wear on it. It's huge, about 8 inches in diameter and the rarity of it made it a worthwhile purchase. I love the 'Mota-Lita' steering wheel motif in the centre of it.
The first Capstan ceramic one is in mint condition and obviously three sided with Capstan branding on all three sides.
The second Capstan one looks slightly older as it's not promoting the filter version. Slight scuff on the blue band but very nice nonetheless.
The Cathay Pacific ceramic one is absolutely brilliant. Fantastic condition and the L-1011 and B-707 really date it. Don't know if its a travel agent promo or perhaps a crew rest item. Either way, I was thrilled to get it for a song.
Thanks for looking and do hope you like them.
From a non smoker, I compliment you on these lovely ashtrays. I particularly like the British Leyland (beautiful color) and fourth picture with all the airplane models listed on it
I always felt collecting ashtrays would be a fun collection to have. Especially now, with fewer smokers, and all kinds of vintage beauties out there. Thanks for posting.
