I've had this for a couple of weeks and have actually given up trying to get a picture that actually shows how deeply blue this plate is. My camera washes it out or muddies the details regardless of the lighting or background. It is deep blue. It is about 7" in diameter, with a ground bottom and the number/letter "2W" on the bottom. No idea who made this, but it screams "Quality!".

@TallCakes. I don't think that I have ever seen a piece of Viking that is marked in the glass like this one is....

Well, I just found a piece on ebay that the seller claims is Viking, marked "SM" for Sandwich Glass Museum....

The pattern looks similar, too. https://tinyurl.com/y8t2otup

Looks like "SM" was a "thing" so double checked my plate for an "SM" but found none. I think you are probably right on this TallCakes. Definitely looks like a Viking blue.

I did see an amber covered butter in the same motif with the SM mark; the 2W mark is a bit perplexing...

Definitely does look like the base of the diamond thumbprint covered butter dish.

I know Mosser has a lot of Viking molds, and they do reproduce some of the yesteryear line pieces (very similar time frame). I haven't seen Mosser change a mark like that, but if the quality is that high then maybe it could be theirs?

If it is Chinese, the quality does seem really high, especially with the ground base like that, but the weird mark reminds me of the fake Heisey with the h in a square instead of a diamond.

Fwiw, I've never seen any of the original Viking SM pieces in colors other than amethyst, amber, crystal, or ice blue, and I have recently seen a few other pieces on eBay (like the pineapple pattern honey box) in deep cobalt too, been wondering who made those. Maybe it's the same mfr.

I take that back, I believe Viking's diamond thumbprint for the Sandwich Museum line did include ruby (once in a while the cream and sugar set pops up on eBay in Ruby, and I saw the tall covered candy/apothecary jar in Ruby once) but I've never seen cobalt.

Mosser does do several Viking Georgian pieces in both Ruby and cobalt for Vermont Country Store (tumblers, salt+pepper, I believe the pitcher as well).

Thanks for the comments, glassbird. I sent some images to Mosser. Hope they respond!
