Can ANYONE tell me what doll this is? It is 33 inches and my son is a marine and the clothing is super high quality and even has the same inner lining and patches as the real thing.It appears to be from the 1950's. No marks at all on the doll. Recruiting office doll, Uniform sales sample? Any info is appreciated. Thank you, BrianGuertin
I have all but exhausted my research options. Toy collectors, Doll collectors, Military Collectors, Toy shows, Toy museums, Doll museums, Military museums and NO ONE KNOWS what this doll is or who made it. My guess is that it was from a recruiting office or a uniform store but nothing definite and no idea as to who made it. ANY THOUGHTS would be greatly appreciated. It looks like a Lee Ermey doll. My husband has been in the Corps for 23 years. We both agree that’s what it looks like :)
I agree Lee Ermey . He was a Marine and went on to be in the movies and TV . The large doll appears to be a manikin but not a salesman sample they would not take a uniform around to sell to general public . He may have been used to draw attention to signing up for Marine Corp . The uniform is very well made so doubt he was play doll. Interesting piece .
I truely thank those who took the time to answer but I feel that it can,t be a Lee Ermey doll because he wasn’t famous until the late 80,s and this doll is way before that. I have contacted so many museums and collectors and Ivan,t believe that know one knows anything about it. If I had money, Iwould offer a reward! Lol. Someone, Please help before I go Nuts! Lol. What makes you think it is that old ? His head looks like hard Vinyl ? The suit looks altered and pants look hand hemmed as though they were to long , I am not sure but it also has seams above R pocket a puckered sleeve insert R side . With molded boots ect this body was used more than once and heads may have been changed out . I am convinced it is not a one of a kind and it is Lee Ermey's face
He is also wearing correct rank according to stripes as Staff Sgt when in Marines . Like your doll
Being that Lee Ermy dolls were produced in very high numbers, show me another one? When you google his dolls, they all come up in Images and he has nothing like it. Also, the weight and quality of this doll isn't the same as his light weight mass produced dolls. IMO it isn't his face as I look at all the rest of his figures. I'm not sure that the pants are original as the material looks a bit newer but I'm sure that the jacket isn't altered and is definitely original. I'm going to try and post photos of the jacket but I can't post them in this reply. My email is briguert57@comcast.net if you or anyone else may need pics. to help me figure this out.

I just checked Ermy dolls in dress blues and they aren't even close. I almost wish they were so I could know what I have but the quality of his dolls is that of GI Joe and the buttons on his dress blues aren't official. These buttons are the EXACT ONES used on Marine Caps. The head is SOFT rubber or vinyl. I just weighed the doll and it is 7 1/2 pounds! I do truly appreciate all comments and opinions but I respectfully disagree that it is Ermy but thanks again for your opinion.
I just contacted "SIDESHOW PRODUCTS" which held the license on the Ermy doll and they went through all their archives and said it is DEFINITELY NOT an Ermy doll. She said it doesn't appear to be a specific Marine and thought as I do, that it may be for a recruiting office or a Marine clothing store. She even wants me to back to her when and IF I get an answer. HELP! Please

Thank you so much for calling in today, it was very nice speaking with you. Please keep me updated on any information that comes in regarding that figure. I showed it to one of my coworkers who has been here for nearly a decade, and he agreed that the piece is definitely an antique. My suggestion is to take a good luck for a sort of seal or imprint on the dolls skin, as sometimes companies will leave an embossed insignia right on the doll itself.

Is there anyone else out there that might know what this is? Any thoughts or guesses are appreciated because it may be right or if I can research your theory and rule it out, in a way it still helps. Anybody out there have another opinion on this doll. I brought it to Fairfield Auctions in CT. and they have never seen one. The auctioneer said it was from the 1940's to the 1950's. They wanted me to consign with them but offered a $300.00 to $500.00 estimate unless I found out more about it.
