As seen in color and in b/w, this scene is part of Wilkes-Barré's downtown. No more American Furniture Store, the building has been repurposed.

Hi, Bobby...thanks for your inquiry, and also for your love of these images. No, the tornado was slightly Northeast of the location in the photos. No damage here, but many stores were damaged in the nearby shopping shopping mall.....luckily, the storm arrived after closing hours. An hour or so earlier, and there would have been many casualties. As it was, there were only six minor injuries, and NO fatalities, thankfully!
