I found this delightful little Chatelaine powder compact in my great grandmothers bureau in Wilmette, Illinois a number of years back. It was quite dirty (with some old lipstick or similar inside that was sticky) or and only after I polished it that the true beauty of the engine turned design and lovely enamel adornment became apparent. I am curious if there is a way to identify the maker by the shape of it as it is not stamped or signed. I am wondering if the colors of the enamel have any deep significance other than being pretty.
Are there any hallmarks or any initials under the powder chamber ? Neil
Beautiful piece !
