Someone made a lamp out of this. There, that's out of the way.
Apart from the neatly drilled hole for the lamp hardware, I am left with a spectacular Hofstötter designed shape and form for the Paris Exposition of 1900. Description from Loetz.com: Metallic-yellow ground; dense trailed silver bands, each pulled up and down. Lower part of vessel with dark brown layer with combed silver threads, vertical ruby-red lancets with silver-yellow threads. This is the pinnacle of Loetz art nouveau glass... "Black Bottom" pieces are the holy grails of Loetz collecting, and if it hadn't been drilled, you could have probably added a zero to the end of the price I paid, and I would not be in possession of such an important piece. As I took the lamp out of the box and began to disassemble it, I was pleased to note that it was clean, had a perfect rim, and no chips or cracks. Enjoy!
Well bought !!!!

Yes, I cringed when I saw that listing. I had hoped that they were justified because it had been chipped, but apparently they didn't know what they had! Beautiful!
