I love the medieval legend of St George slaying the dragon to save the princess, and here are two interpretations. The vintage 60s goldtone Kenneth Jay Lane necklace shows a rhinestone clad knight spearing the dragon with his coral tipped lance, riding a green eyed horse. The 2" pendant is fully formed all around & hangs from a foot long ropey golden chain. The 9" cobalt blue glass plate has a golden abstract St George slaying the dragon design, it was the 1972 annual plate by Kosta Boda of Sweden

Hi Jenni cracking item, stunning cobalt blue and great detail. I only found out this morning that St. George, our patron saint, was a Roman or modern day Turkish.

This is a stunning piece! And like you I adore the legend of St George too. I have to say, trying to avoid sounding all weird that St George is my favourite saint- and I'm not even a religious person. :P
I do also believe that not only is he the patron saint of England and Georgia but also Greece too? So much more interesting than St Patrick....(The patron saint where I live)

Don't you think the story about St Patrick driving all the snakes out of Ireland is pretty cool though
Haha- Yes I do think St Patrick is interesting too, that and the fact he first started life being kidnapped by pirates in Wales, or France as a young boy? Tough start in life, but St George to me, with his fantastical battle against a dragon is definitely my favourite!
