I was going to post this butterfly yesterday, unfortunately while photographing it, it slipped out of my hand and for the life in me I couldn't find it, I wasn't happy. I went through all my plant pots, I thought my only resort was to screw up some of my decking planks because their is a couple of panels that have gaps in between and this is a tiny brooch. Today I thought I'd have one last look through my plant pots, before starting to unscrew the panels. I couldn't believe my eyes their it was in the saucers underneath one of my plant pots, hooray I'd found it so what can I say I'm very happy.
This was given to me by a very good friend who knows I collect antique and vintage jewellery. When I saw it I had a good idea who the maker was but it was so dirty I couldn't see the marks. I've cleaned the back up and has I thought the brooch was made by John Atkins & Son. Unfortunately surfing the web I've found very little about them.
It a tiny little brooch with lots of character the guilloche is in very good condition probably made in the early 1900s
I was wondering if any body out there knows anything about the company.
Many thanks for looking
