Here's some more CW Centennial items. Another ashtray WITHOUT lousy pictures of water boarded Confederate Presidents like last time. It's a Union kepi, maker unknown. I've seen a Confederate kepi also, I'd like a set. A pewter belt buckle is next. It has the Centenial Shiloh postage stamp engraved on it. Dory Duplicate 10801 is on the back
Hey Reb. I don't know your age, but if you have heard stories about the guy with the original CW cannon in Montgomery in the 60's-70's, that's me. I posted it here 6 yrs. ago & you can find the pix & coverage on my profile here. Several of my ancestors served alongside of it.
I'm 64, yeah I remembet hearing about the cannon. Small world. You have the same tastes as me. Pretty impressive to know that your ancestors were part of its history, I know I'd be proud. I've got an ancestor that shares my exact full name that was in a Georgia regiment with his brother. You might know a lot of the folks I know. This cool to know it was you with the cannon after all these years.
Deo Vindice,
Bill
3" ordnance rifle #548 was captured from the 14th Indiana Light Art. at Brice's Crossroads, MS by Forrest & served in Morton's battery with Forrest till the end of the War. I covered it pretty well if you go to my profile & scroll down to it.
