This small basket is in a shape I'd not seen previously although my yellow basket has similarities in the rim area. However the pink splatter décor appears on several life light shapes, so that had been in production quite a while before the basket was made. Though the basket has no lines you can see faint vertical lines on the interior. I can't explain that.....
Height 16 cm./6.25 inches
That is one classy basket - I've not seen the square form before, either. I did have one very like the final photo, but in deep orange.
Indeed, IronLace, some baskets are definitely more appealing than others! It was fun haggling in French, too!
I am definitely not a 'baskets' person, but I am astonished at the seemingly endless permutations of Welz baskets. This one, with more simple lines, would have tempted me. I have never seen the shape before. But then, the surprises never cease. I have only just seen the Welz ball-footed shape as a basket!!!!
I'm a 'baskets' person........ if it's Welz and unusual! Here the shape is unusual but the handle and trim are typical of Welz Deco production and the pink spatter very well known. Yes the surprises are endless, and it's all thanks to Craig's research that so much can now be identified. I'm guessing the basket you refer to is yellow/orange with a clear handle....... mind boggling!
It's not just Welz baskets that come in endless variety, the same applies to vases, life lights and tumblers too, as I've only recently discovered. It's becoming ever more evident that Welz must have been a big operation.
Yellow-orange. Yes, that's the one.
I love this square shape!! As always, Welz is full of surprises!
Thank you Michelle. Same apology for the late reply. And without a doubt there are Welz surprises still to come :)
