I am absolutely smitten with this Madonna. I spent an hour perusing the local goodwill finding nothing. I picked her up and put her back three times thinking it was a contemporary piece even though there are obvious signs of aging.. the last time I picked her up I didn't just hold her up to look at the lines I flipped her over and found the USA mark. Any assistance in identifying the maker and age would be appreciated. Dimensions.. 2.75" across the shoulders, 2.5" deep at the base, just under 10" in height.
I’d bet she dates circa the first half of the 1940s, due to the prominent USA mark. I don’t recognize the form. I’ve been searching for the last 30m assuming she was likely produced by Brush McCoy, Hull, Haeger, Stangl, Bauer or Red Wing. No luck. Very distinctive form, hopefully someone can ID her for you.
Perhaps Mary Haeger, I know she made different types of ceramic Modonnas
