We bought this at the Nashville Antique and Garden show in February. We fell in love with it and believe it to be, as the Antique dealer described, American late 19th Century Oak. I would like to know if it is referred to as an Apothecary and if it is in fact as described. Also curious to know an approximate value. We feel we bought it at a good price as it was the last day of the show. Thanks to nyome who can help.
I would call it an apothecary chest. Agree the dovetailing looks to put it in the 19th century.
The wood doesn't look like oak to me-- some detailed photos of the grain would be helpful.

Gotta agree w/scottvez, the woodgrain looks much more like pine (or a similar softwood) to me. No matter that little detail, its a cool chest anyway?!! :-) How big is it?
the back is pine or fir. the front might be walnut. i think i see crazing and a similar grain to walnut.
The piece is 47” h 44” w x 10” d.
