It is a pity that (still) not many antique jewelry collectors are aware of Berlin Iron jewelry. This is because they are not aware of the history, or because they read that these ornaments are made of metal their interest decreases. Yet they are so special because not many available in good condition because the material breaks very quickly. That is why this kind of jewelry is very rare and hard to find nowadays.
Therefore my newest appraisal and lucky found on a auction house in the country of origin; Germany. Here I show you my newest find an early 19th century Berlin Iron Bracelet. The third in my collection.
I can well imagine that this kind of jewelry was worn in the early 19th century as a jewel. At first only as mourning jewelry, obviously because of the black color. Because it looked like lace and was very beautiful, it later also became an ornament like everyone else.

I have been away from CW for months so I have missed this interesting post. Wonderful pieces Agram! Yes very rare. I have only seen yours here on CW and in museums. Saw a post of a iron berlin necklace in an antique shop here. I emailed them straight away but it was already sold. I was quite sad about it for some time. The chance will probably not come around. Nice to dwell in your collection instead. I think they are beautiful!
