A nice find and I'm really pleased to have this. Not what you'd call NoS but through the dust and grime, it's come up remarkably well. The zip has broken and one of the D-rings is missing but it's an easy fix. However, the white piping is in excellent shape and although there's a couple of minor marks, there's no tearing or worn areas of the bag's fabric. Although it's not pictured, there's a 'Made in England' tag on the inside. A great find.
I'll update this when I have the repairs done.
I have a BOAC John Player's Tin, this is even better.
I think I used to have one of these! When me and my sister were teenagers we had to travel from England to Malaysia twice a year and often flew BOAC. It was 4 stops on the way!
These bags were so great & they were of good quality, it was nice when the airlines would give them out
Thanks everyone. AdeleC, like you and your sister, my younger brother and I were regulars on the BOAC VC-10s down to Nigeria in the 60s where my father worked. I don't know if you were members, but both my brother and I were members of the BOAC Junior Jet Club. On each flight we took, we handed our JJC flight log books to the captain who personally signed it with the date, flight number, origin and destination as well as the miles flown. Sad to say, I never kept them but I see them come up on ebay every so often.
Appreciate your feedback.
Those were the days! We didn’t bother with the BOAC club, but I did keep all the menus. I sold them a few years ago. On our first flight out I remember we got our picture in the Daily Telegraph as being unaccompanied minors. They had special Air Nannies looking after us.
Those were the days, indeed. Great anecdote about the shot in the Telegraph, thanks for sharing.
