This was an unexpected find and a piece I have not seen from Hoya before.
I love the stillness of the pose, the contemplative posture, and the way it asks us to give it meaning.
Beautifully made crystal from Hoya.
Height: 17cm
Serenely beautiful, I love the contrast of clear crystal with the frosted ball. Have to say that right now this has me thinking of a soccer player in the World Cup - although he is still, he may be contemplating his next move
very cooooool..
How interesting Karen! I really like this and think it would have a calming effect like watching fish in a bowl :-)
Great pics Karen, you did this one justice. You can almost hear the silence it is so crisp !~
Wow! What a unique piece...& I really like the androgynous appearance of the figure. A meaningful creation indeed!
Thanks Ken! My camera does the work :)
Jenni it is fitting for the World Cup, never crossed my mind being a non-footballer!
I agree they have done well with the frosted/clear contrast. Thanks for the love and ideas.
Thanks Windwalker - cool as a winter wind.
It is a calming presence in my sometimes fraught life Judy!! It makes me stop and think as I look at it.
Thanks Phil, the camera works well! I thought it wouldn't turn out so clear but sometimes photos are better than eyes. It is a very silent piece - true.
I agree IL and the figure is deliberately androgynous I think. Feminine from some angles, masculine from others, but neutral enough we can write our own story.
Thanks for the love!
Beautiful piece Karen but it’s not Hoya. That’s the silver surfer and you better be careful not to get him around the cold or snow as he reanimates and he will fly off and bring Galactus back to eat our planet.Lock him up in a safe and we all thank you for saving the earth.
LOL Jim! What a great start to my morning!!
As Silver Surfer says "Wheels within wheels! I've been tricked, duped, manipulated!!"
Thanks Thomas! Glad you like it.
Sorry, I can't type well, I'm still sniggering about Silver Surfer and worrying because it's winter here and maybe Galactus will be brought to Earth!!
Elegant!
Very elegant! Nice find.
Thanks Tigra and MrsT, so glad to hear from you!
Yes indeed, this is a special find. Love it.
Its photographed very well. Glass can be awful to photo. You dont need to take any more photos but if you placed it on a mirror you'd get a truly artistic shot. I hope to find another one I'll keep it in mind, love my glass.
For a mirror shot go to art glass and have a look at my Goebel bird.
