I was helping my friend clean out her mother's house, she had lived in for 45 years. I found this in the attic among other things. She said keep what you want. She was has a antique wine press in the basement. She's thinking of turning into a planter. I just loved this tho. I think it looks great in the window. Anyone know a possible age for the corker? Have a great day!

Actualy, I think you have a capper for crown caps.

BB2 is correct. Crown caps were invented apx. 1895. Walter Machine Co. seems to have been organized in 1927 and is still in business in Jersey City, NJ. You can write to them and ask if & when they were located in Detroit.

Very interesting. I found it with a old wine press. So absolutely thought it was a corker. Thanks for clearing that up. I'll have to Google more about it. Thanks

I have one similiar that my father used during Prohibition . He made beer. Caps and bottles were not easy to come by. So some were sold in mason jars.
You could get a beer bottle and place it under the capper.
