Can’t anyone’s please tell me anything about this knife? I have no intention of selling this knife but I would like to know more about it. I don’t want an estimate of it’s value. I just want the history. I believe it I could be from Japan, but can’t find a lot of info on it. Thank you

Some time around 1990 these knives began showing up on the collector market. There are several different sizes - mostly 2" to 3" with varying numbers of blades - all with Sterling silver handles having chunky engraving. The engraving style is identical across the group and the quality and finish of the tools is low. They are offered at all price levels - often well over $100 even though they are worth a fraction of that - by inexperienced sellers who have not examined good English and German multi-bladed knives and believe that silver handles alone indicates high quality. Most of the ones I have seen have "Japan" stamped somewhere on one of the blades.

I might question the Sterling part. Especially it being from Japan.

This may have been a woman's pocket knife that hung on her chatelaine - a loop with a series of chains holding household tools like sewing kit, smelling salts, pocket knife. Is there a button hook as one of the tools in the knife? (The loop would be used to attach the chain to a larger loop that a woman would attach to her dress.)
