My attraction is towards mixed mediums as decorative and artistic creations. This will include metalware, ceramic, jewelry, accessories, glass etc.
This is another style altogether of decorated ceramic, it is contemporary and made in Mexico. Their expertise is dinnerware with a plain background mat color finish and applied silver metal motifs. Often referring to nature or animals popular in Mexico.
Because this bowl does not show the more complex silver decorations on the dinner plates for instance, it is more difficult to recognize which line this is.
Emilia Castillo is also a silversmith and she designs jewelry with the same inspiration in her motifs.
"Daughter of the famous Mexican silversmith Antonio Castillo, home decor and jewelry designer Emilia Castillo has a following and reputation that spans the globe...She developed a patented technique of fusing pure silver to porcelain, a beautiful and unique result that is a signature of her pieces. Emilia gets her inspiration from the natural surroundings at her ranch in Taxco...All of Emiliaºs pieces are made of natural materials such as lapis lazuli, jasper, turquoise ,malachite, onyx , porcelain and of course Silver."
Very nice pure silver and pottery bowl:) Thanks for sharing.
That's a fascinating piece TruthorDare. The shine of the silver stitching against that burnished clay is both exciting and calm.
The dragonflys are a lovely embellishment.
Thanks Karen, the dragonfly is her special marker. It is found on many of her ceramic pieces. :-)
Thank you worthit2 or the fine comment.
Thank you for the loves - much appreciated.
