This cupola came off a Sinclair gas station built in the early 20's (pictured). I picked it up in Coral Gables in an old guy's back yard about ten years ago. Love the automobile weathervane which I'll remove and mount when we eventually downsize. I was told the station was built in 1921 so I figure three more years and it's a real "antique."
What a great piece ! and to have a photo of it when it was on building is amazing
I hope you live forever and never have to separate the pieces.
Thanks artfoot but I can't imagine how much my back would hurt if I were immortal. Kidding aside, I totally get where you're coming from, but this thing is BIG and it only fits in our current house because of this weird design feature in the living room.
That Sinclair gas station belonged to my husband's grandfather, Earl Skinker, who happens to be in that picture. The old man you reference in your story was most likely my husband's Uncle Robert who lived in Florida. I would LOVE a digital copy of that photo to blow up and frame for my husband.
