At the Family Place this weekend, I came across this fine pair of art deco chalkware whippet with a cardinal bookends. The bookends were made by the Stern-Louis Co., in 1943. I found other bookends made by this company, but not these. And looking for the company on Google turned up nothing. The whippets are in full relief. They stand 7.25" tall and 4.25" depth and 4.25" in length. They have a few fleabites (pardon the pun) on the surface but are in beautiful condition. Anyone know anything about Stern - Louis Co.?
