Finally getting close to being able to capture dark cobalt glass with my camera, but still coming up short. This is an amazing deep cobalt blue vase about 7" high and 4.5" wide. No maker's mark and a flat grind on the bottom, smooth on the outside and ribbed on the inside. Guessing American studio glass. From a thrift shop in Morton, IL. Bought it knowing I wouldn't be able to find out anything about it. Really nice art glass vase. Some reflections in the vase from my chandelier. I live in an 1883 Victorian cottage and these chandeliers probably date from when the house first got electricity.
It's really nicely made and finished. American you think?
I do think it is American. The grind on the bottom is uneven, not what I would expect to see on a commercially produced piece, so it doesn't feel imported to me. Probably from an American glass studio. It seems a bit too sophisticated to a be student piece, but it could be.
The third image hints at how uneven the grind is. I couldn't really capture it with my camera.
