Hello truth friends Collectors Community,-9-07-2018----11:30 PM-Ontario, Canada.
I am in vacation for 2 week and half starting today, for the occasion i will have some time to share with you some of my family treasure, I already start with some document post years ago, this is not a collection, as I was choose by my Mother when she pass away, to be the KEEPER of our family archive, no one from my 5 Brothers and 4 Sister didn't want it.
This archive included all my family notary paper and Tintype, cabinet card and regular photo's.
This document of 8 pages is the Marriage contract from my ancestor Mathurin Gaignon with Marie Ursule Prevost from 1839 at D'orlean Island, Quebec, this document is complete and described what happen who was there and what they gave as gift, an absolute piece of history not only that's regards my family, but the tradition.
You recover some name like, Auber, Langlois, Mauffet, Dussault, and what they gave to the couple as a gift, Pigs, Horses, Furniture, Cows and event a piece of land by is Father "Pierre"(second of the name), this marriage is a wealthy one, because my ancestor was Churchwarden for century in the community of chateau richer in addition they have General Store.
Before the last paragraph in the first scan, you can read the signature of the Priest " Germain Guilbert, prettre Curé "
On the third scan all signature that require, Sherrift, Notary, Priest, etc... include Ursule Prevost has mark with a X, this was very frequent at the time, some people can read event write.
And the icing on the cake I was able to joint the tintype correspondent of Mathurin and Ursule, the young boy on the back is Pierre Gagnon third of the name.
Many thanks for looking.

Great documents and photo Alan2310! I am a genealogist and the family historian so especially appreciate this type of material. Great idea to show here as any means of preserving this type of material is good idea. I try to spread copies of any original materials as widely as possible.
Hello /kwqd, happy to not be alone, I use to do research for the Ursuline museum and Civilization Musuem in Quebec.
It’s not easy to translated this Old French, this one is not to bad because of the Notary has a good writing, but you have some way much harder, it’s few line a day to work on those difficult.
The first Mariage from the 1700 take me a year to translate, it’s post here on CW
