During WW2, Coro (founded in 1901) made several patriotic jewelry pieces to honor our allied service personnel. This 1 1-2" gold wash sterling pin honors the Royal Air Force ambulance corps, on back it reads "a tribute of valor British-Amer Ambulance Corps Inc by Coro"

Thanks Adele for alerting me on this 100th birthday of the Royal Air Force

I'd call it a sweetheart piece. I love coro jewelry-- they made some fantastic US sweetheart items.

Thank you Ken for enjoying my wartime Coro pin, I have a couple more different ones for future posts, appreciate the kind words and love

Scott thanks for your great comment, I did check out your Coro winged sweetheart pin post, wow that's a beauty! Agree that Coro did their part with patriotic jewelry, and most of it in sterling which made it more of a treasure

Thanks for the great kind words MrsT, I love the WW2 era it was a rough period in history, but is very sentimental to look back on

Glad you enjoyed this Thomas, I know your birthday is coming soon (watch in a few days for another vintage crab post from me), I am thrilled your son will be coming to see you soon, he's one of our patriots & I'm sending hugs & luv

Many thanks all for loving & enjoying this

This is really sweet and interesting- also a bit sad when one takes into account that it's a 'sweetheart' piece
    14. Newfld Newfld, 6 years ago
Thanks Lauren for the sweet comment, I know, it must have been so hard to not know if your loved one would return home. Thanks for the kind thoughts & always appreciate the love

My grandmother appreciates and knows that sort of feeling- we lost one relative in WW1- his body was never found, but we just know how he died and the second one was injured in action. We have both sets of medals, and pieces like these that were sent home as 'sweetheart' pieces....very touching...

Lauren so sad for your grandma, time goes by and helps but never heals from the loss, fortunately one of her war heroes survived. My uncle was in the Navy and also wounded but returned needing back operations. These men deserved all the medals they received and more, so nice of you to share this

Thank you kindly Vynil33rpm, appreciate the love

The pin has Queen`s crown, meaning it cannot be WW II but after 1953.
Every single regimental and services badges (and sweetheart brooches) from WW I and WW II had King`s crown of George V and George VI.

That is interesting Ivan, I suppose Coro made this version in the fifties, thank you for pointing that out. I do think it was still meant as a tribute to the British-American war collaboration, whenever they issued it. Thanks for the comment and love
