I like the burl walnut and I don't know what you mean the bottom spins ?? The mid section is in the form of balconies and looks just like the old architectural models they used to make in wood. Very unusual spin on a table, but a lot of furniture manufacturers put their own spin on antique design.

I have a two tier table a lot like the one you have discovered in NY. However the one I have has nicely carved ball and claw feet three point spinning mid table with expertly turned spindles and a barrel light topper.
I have Never see another and i'm thinking these are a master craftsman's passion work one off pieces. progression i also believe the person who made these is a master wood turner. the large and numerous small turnings are perfect template cut but still very hard to achieve. I believe mine to be from the 40's to the 60's
