Copper Printing plate that reproduced an Alfred Waud illustration in Harpers Weekly 24 January 1863

This Alfred Waud drawing copper print plate has been in my Family for four generations. My Great Grandfather worked as a Engineer in the printing business in Brooklyn NY. I was told that the piece was given to my Great Grandfather by one of his mentors to remember the days when creating the plates were an art. The print illustrates the use of mobilized telegragh equipment to collect and transmit real time battlefield situational status to President Lincoln and his war strategists. The 9" x 7.5" heavy hardwood backed copper print plate piece itself is in beautiful condition and truly a work of art. I have seen prints made from this plate sometime around 1973 and they were beautiful and rich in detail. Sadly I do not have those prints and the person that made them on the proper press has long since passed away. I'm interested in what other members of this board know about the plate or the process. Where one would go to make a print safely. I would also like to know more about the battle scene that was captured.
