I decided to add a second pair of Welz candlesticks to my collection, and the first from this earlier period. The other pair are Art Deco and also posted here. These are taller and for stability have a much broader base.
The final picture is a small advert cut from a German magazine of 1923 and sold on ebay.de by a trader in vintage adverts of all types. The ad mentions the recent appointment of a representative for the Scandinavian countries. I've passed it on to archive central!
Height 22 cm./8.75 inches
Beautiful Welz-- and great ad as well.

Hi scott, nice comment, thanks :)
Thanks for regularly sharing all of your glass.
Your collection must now rival Passau! How about some large grouping photos to show the overall tonnage!
Remember whenever you feel overwhelmed, I am happy to store your overflow.

So.. Did the make glass between loads of coal?? ROTFLMAO....
scottvez, it does feel a bit like tonnage as I'm in the middle of packing it in advance of moving. If you lived a bit closer now.....
welzebub, It beggars belief! It's no accident that glass became the major industry in Stourbridge.......Stourbridge is located above nothing but coal. Every glass maker's dream back in the day!
Great ad!! And great glass....
Wow22, I too thought the ad was a great find. Not earth shattering but a little insight into marketing back in the day. Also interesting was that in 1923 Welz thought that trade with the Scandinavian countries had reached the point that merited a separate rep.
A lovely pair, and terrific history piece - thanks for sharing it!
Michelle, as ever your comment is pertinent and appreciated.
