These have a rather warm and glowing look. It is a spatter I know but I don't have many examples of it. The shape however isn't one I know so I was very pleased to come across it.

Do these examples have amber casing, rather than clear? The colours, although familiar, appear 'murkier' - as though they are encased in amber glass (not unknown in Welz production). Is this accurate, or am I way off?

I should have said 'honeyed' rather than 'murkier'!

What an attractive shape - I had not seen it before, either!

Wow22, these are actually cased in clear, though I agree that Welz was fond of coloured casing, and not only amber. I had intended to post a link to my favourite 'cased in amber' Welz vase, posted two years ago. However I've discovered you commented on that too....so no need!

'Murkier' is fine by me......no offence taken :)

IronLace, Thanks for your input. I think of these pieces......old type spatter, but no rigaree......as part of the transition from Victorian to Art Deco. Impossible to date, but fascinating to collect! Of course I also have transition pieces with Art Deco spatter and Victorian rigaree......

Thanks Phil, and as you know it's always a pleasure to find something a little different!

Very interesting! I have never seen this shape before in Welz, either - always great to have a pair, too! :)

Thanks Michelle, and almost a shock to see such simple lines from Welz!

Not a spatter seen all that frequently, and a very nice new shape for me also.

Thanks for clarification. These are great. How tall? (sorry to be the pest asking questions)

welzebub, glad you like the new addition to the 'family'! The spatter mix is particularly nice in it's découpage version......or so I think.

Wow22, The height is 19cm./7.5 inches. Normally the height is the final line in my posts but I was rushed and thought......oh nobody will notice!

The new shape is quite interesting and appears to be a promising avenue for further discoveries

Yes Ivonne, more in this shape wouldn't be a hardship at all!

They would, MALKEY, as they're warm colours to start with!
