Greetings All,
I have this piece of Black Americana and I am trying to figure out what it was actually used for. It stands 9 3/8" tall (the porter) x 8 3/4" long from trunk to heel of shoe and is 3 1/4" wide at the front. It is stamped © GAME MAKERS, INC., NY USA on the lower front of the trunk. The top of the trunk is open and measures 3 1/4 across the front x 3 3/8" in length x 4" deep. I was told that it was a Cigar 'Porter', and it was from the 1940's. What throws me a bit is the Game Makers Inc., which made me wonder if it was a part of a board game or something. Any information as to it's original use and when it was made would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
