I really need the advice of my friends here at CW. I found this massive candlestick today, it is 12 inches tall. I bought it for the crystal dangles to replace some of my dangles that got broken. I paid a whole $2 Canadian for the darn thing, knowing that it had a bad chip (picture # 3). The problem is that I kind of fell in love with the mermaid and my husband absolutely hates it. He says it is dangerous because someone could get cut and the the candlestick is ugly. He suggests to keep the dangles and throw out the candlestick.
Here is my question: Throw the candlestick out or try to repair it? I have once "fixed" a glass dish by sanding away sharp edges. It worked well - but it is a good idea?
Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking:)
I love it! Very different, and forget the little damage!
That mermaid is just beautiful, I've seen dolphin candlesticks similar to this by Imperial, but the mermaid is so different and nautical - hope hubby changes his mind! Put a kind of clear epoxy over the chip so it blends in, it will prevent anyone getting cut. It's very fancy with the dangles & looks nice with the rest of your glass
AdeleC and Newfld, thanks so much for your comments! You really made my day. I think I will keep it, turn it the other way, and put epoxy on. Problem solved:)
Many thanks for the love:

Could be a Baccarat Mermaid Candlestick?
Hi, Moonhill. You are right, it could be, but I always thought that Baccarat made crystal items. My candlestick seems to be glass. Also, I found a few candlesticks with coy fish, attributed to Baccarat. There was one with a mermaid that read "Baccarat style". I am confused:)
Thanks for much for your comment!

I also found this one: https://diamondantiques.co/product/rare-19th-century-mermaid-candelabra/
Mine is a simple version of it and has a chip:(
But the main question remains: Who made It?
Many thanks for the love, Brunswick:)
