For my 100th post, I return to my past and my first purchase of a piece of Viking Glass in 8 or 10 years. It is not labeled or marked in any way, but unmistakably made by Viking Glass. I had "orange on the brain" after posting images of an orange tall vase and pitcher and ran across this today at the Salvation Army Store in Champaign/Urbana, IL for $5.99. Normally, I probably would not have paid that much for it, but Oh Well. It is pretty. About 6." high and 5.5" wide at the widest. It is probably more a pulled piece than a swung piece.

Thanks for the comment Newfld. Viking orange is my favorite followed by red and blue. I took a quick look around and I have half a dozen more pieces of Viking in orange that I haven't stored away, so I will put up a pile of orange image soon. Not found my New Martinsville crystal horses, yet, but did find a couple of bent tail roosters. I may have boxed the horses up. I put a lot of glass in boxes in my basement a few years ago.

      Thanks for the loves

@truthordare. Hey, what's not to love. Dean Six wrote a really good book on Viking Glass.

I have the Dean Six book too, and several others, which include USA glass from the same period. Do you know which line your great orange glass bowl is from?

My Dean Six book is buried behind the results of a couple of other hobbies. It's been 8-10 years since I collected Viking, but I think it may be from the Epic line, perhaps 1175 stubby pulled vase. Haven't thought about Viking in years...

I just re-organised all my reference books, I keep them in a separate shelf unit in our office space. It was fun to find some books I forgot I had. The Viking book has an Epic line page showing the shape of bases, this triangular one is called the THREE FOIL B, with its sharp angled points. You were right. :-)

Thanks! I can see my books, just can't reach them! Frustrating. Six's book is a pleasure to look through, as I recall. I'll try to put up my "Gang of Orange" group of Viking glass tonight. I found six or seven pieces sitting around the house that I haven't put away. I also found another tall vase (24-25" inches?) that is in amethyst, not one of my favorite colors. Not sure I am going to try to dig out my big vases as it would just be too much work.

I finally got around to redoing these images, as promised, and it only took me three years!

I wonder why they made some of their glass that way? Was it for art or use or both? It's gorgeous nonetheless!

I think pieces like this were more art than practical pieces, DejaVu2!
