      This is a glass bead sign. They first came out in 1937 and weren't used for very long. In 1939 they started to use retroreflective sheeting that was developed by 3M.

      I saw a kid yrs. ago who had a patch of this sign sewn on the butt of his jeans. LOL !! Been looking for one ever since.
