This brooch is marked Jay Flex Sterling in a small circle on the back. It's thanks to CW that I know that Jay Flex was where Gustave Sherman worked before starting his own business, and as I have never seen any Sherman in real life I was happy to find this pretty.

It is beautifully made and a relatively simple design. A layer of burgundy crystals have been set in lines, and over that two lines of pale pink crystals have been set. The brooch has some height to it, and the crystals are pretty, but somehow it comes across a bit lifeless.
I think the top layer of stones stop light reaching the deeper tone bottom stones,

I guess this dates to sometime before 1950 but looks almost new. It measures 4.4cm by 2.0cm

I had so much trouble getting any good pictures of this brooch. In real life, the layers are more obvious, the colours cleaner, and it is a bit sparklier. Sorry Phil, I don't have your skills!

Reminds me that I got one of Jay Flex's bigger show boxes a short time ago. J Flex luckily are still easy to find on the net. Sterling seems to be one of their selling points in that decade. Probably mid forties or so, beautiful brooch to have.
