Rare,and I have the pair!Good-Year white-wall **re-capped** "Cheater" Slicks ,branded "SECOND"!Let's go drag racing on seconds!!yay!fun!
These are from the early 60's and have been stored in out barn about that long!They are in great shape for their age.I finally found a Good-Year tire stand to match and fit these tires,so at least one got to go home and go on display in the museum!
wow cool display and oh did I mention I learned to drive in a re painted orange 57 chevy with cheaters on it in winter !! Try and get up a hill with snow on it with these tires :-)
WOW Manikin!What a challenge!lol
**re-capped** "Cheater" Slicks - How many people even know what that means. lol
Congratulation - this is a real auto display. Ahhhhhhh, the good old days.
U know today’s 18 wheelers are running on retreads . Only the front tires are not allowed retreads. That’s why you see Hugh tire caps laying on the side of roads. Never drive next to a semi for any length of time on the expressways. FYI.
An excellent find worthy of a museum. I shall also stay clear of semis. They tend to kick up rocks and stuff too. No offense to semis.
Tires with similar tread patterns are commonly found down 'round these parts, (where snow/ice is a relative rarity) one just needs to look around any odd WallyWorld parking lot to easily find 'em on any of a *wide* variety of vehicles. (that otherwise should might or might not be allowed on the road, but whatever...?) I'm not sure I knew that one could once *buy them new* that way...??? <eeek>
Cool! I had a pair of used cheater slicks on my 68 Camaro back in the 70's. I hung onto them into the 90's but sold them when I moved out of state :{
Thanks everyone!
Don’t you love it when a plan comes together ? :)
