Aloha from Hawaii! I was at a garage sale the other day and picked up the items pictured. The easy one to identify was the Dietz house lamp just not sure of the date of manufacture. The only Identifying mark is the Make in New York US follwowed by two leters O K.
The square tub appears to be galvanized wth a copper bottom---I think it has been painted with silver paint and was wondering if anyone knew what it was mde to be used for and should I try to remove the paint?
The Copper Decanater/jar/no idea is the mistey piece. There are no visble markings is almost 6 inches tall 3 1/8" in diameter, 1/8 " tick copper and has a suede leather interior---any body have any idea what the heck this thing is?
lso what is the value on these items? I bought other things and gave $30.00 total
Mahalo Randy
The tub looks like an old cooler since it has a lid but reminds me of the old round wash tubs. Maybe the mystery piece was just for cooking over a fire? Maybe they used a stick or something to lift it when hot? This is a mystery! I haven't a clue as to what it is. I sure hope someone knows!
Suede on the inside? This is strange! I don't know what that would be used for but I guess not for fire ! LOL
kbow,
thanks for the comment I agree that for the mystery copper piece that cooking is not an option it contained something---I assume valueable---the owner said it was purchased with the Dietz lantern so with the appearence and manufacture type I believe it to be rather old. sinceit is in Hawaii could it have something to do with Nautical or medical?
The wash/ice tub (cooler)---should I try to remove the silver paint?
The Dietz lantern does the O K marking provide a date of manufacture?
