This was my mother's. Singer tells me that it was made on July 31, 1946, in Elizabeth, NJ. I have all the parts that go along with it and it is in mint condition. I have no idea what the value of this machine would be. Would anyone be able to give me an idea? Thanks much.

Singer machines are very robust and as such there are a lot of them out there, sorry but as nice as it is it's not worth much...you might get $40.00 on a good day, but it is very pretty.. Enjoy.

Well now I will have to disagree with Pop_abides on this one . This is a very nice Singer and it is a collectable . It is rare to find this machine with the stool that came with it . Also this machine has a what is called a potted motor which is highly sought after by Singer collectors . It also seems to be in very good condition . This is a class 15 model . I have sold machines like this one for $200.00 .

I bought one of these over 10 years ago at a garage sale for $100. Exact same model, with stool (lifted the stool seat and found all the original odds and ends - bobbins, oil can, etc). Works like a charm. But can anyone tell me how to get it to sew backwards? I'm stumped.

Gillian : This may sound like a dumb question , but have you tried moving the silver leaver up ? If you have and it still does not sew backwards then it may need some cleaning and oil .
