Goodwill find today for $1.99. The only similar vase I found was on ebay where the seller claimed it was made by L E Smith Glass Co. It is 16.5 inches tall. Does anyone know for certain who made this and when it was made?

this is called a 'Swung Vase'; Stretch Glass is a iridescent glass with a crinkled onion skin finish that looks a bit like the finish is stretched and cracked. Think this pattern is U.S. Glass Co. #15021...

here's an explanation of the swung vases process:
"Swung Vases are manufactured using a very interesting process.
First a Jardinere is produced usually using a modified spooner mould--the diameter of which is determined by the desired diameter of the finished vase.
Next, the jardinere is removed from the mould after pressing and placed in a long-handled snap which has jaws that clamps onto the base of the jardinere.
The Warming-In worker then puts the jardinere into the 2,500 degree glory hole. When the jardinere is heated to a molten state, the worker pulls it out of the glory hole, turns around, and swings the molten jardinere in giant arcs-much like a baton twirler. Centrifugal force stretches the jardinere into a vase shape.
Finally, when the jardinere is stretched to the desired length, the swinging stops.
The process for producing these swung vases require very careful and skilled workers who are able to freeze the stretching glass at the desired length."

Thanks TallCakes! I knew all of this at one time, but have not been "thinking glass" for several years, so very rusty.

This doesn't match the examples of 15021 that I have found. It doesn't have a star pattern on the bottom and the design of the foot is different. Leaving this as a mystery. EBay seller didn't respond as to their source.

This base is very similar to that on many Westmoreland Glass stretch vases on ebay...
