Vintage Barrel Trunk, PATD DEC. 7 1880. Looks like it is tin embossed with a floral decor. Picked up at an antique shop for $60! I have no clue who actually made this. If anybody could tell me any information on this trunk I would greatly appreciate it!

The lock was patented in 1880, the trunk itself is from mid to late 1880's give or take a bit, very cool hardware, have not seen this style before, not 100% sure but the hardware has a Romadka Brothers look to it, they were out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but like I said not sure, without a makers label, hard to say for sure, it is embossed tin, it was simply called fancy tin, but over time people have given it names, I call this one butterflies and flowers, very nice trunk, you did very good for 60 dollars, greendog.

Thanks guys! I was stoked when I found this. I stopped at some antique shops on my way home from Chicago to St. Louis, MO. It also Measures - 34"W x 29"T x 22"side width.
Question for trunkman, The trunk you sourced, "This Old Trunk", looks kind of like my trunk. If you look at the hardware on the hood of the corners, it shows an M. Not sure if that could mean it was a Martin Maier Trunk or not? Any thoughts?

Funny you should ask as I noticed the similarities... however it only appears as an m on the corners and I think that just be an unintentional design fluke. The ‘m’s’ on the Martin Maier trunks are a little more specific and appear on the end caps and Center pieces as well as corners. Not to say that it isn’t a Maier trunk but not in the way i’ve seen. The hardware to me is unique so most likely a specific maker, just not sure which one. Hope this helps a bit...

Yeah, I was thinking you were going to say that. lol I will continue to research and see if I can't find anything more specific on the hardware used. Thanks so much for your input trunkman!

Well, yah know, try to call’em as I see ‘em. Back hinges are a tell tale sign of a Maier trunk, I can see yours has a stay so I’ll assume it’s not a Maier hinge. Hard to find specific info on hardware unless same trunk has a label. Let us know what you find as us trunkies find this stuff fascinating.
