Here is what I believe to be an original baseball poster from Aug 26, 1868. I am not certain of it's value and am in process of trying to find that out. I've had it for about 25 years as it was passed down from my grandfather.

Can you feel anything on the back such as indentations from the lettering or is it smooth to the touch?

I don't feel any indentations from the lettering. My wife seems to think it may be very slight but there are some wrinkles in the paper that make it hard to tell. I believe it to be smooth. what does that mean for me?

I have 2 of these posters 1 from my moms side of the family and one from my girlfriends grandmother they are both identical mounted on a backboard. Proffesionally mounted when i dont know when but i think early 1900's. Plus your poster is in almost pristine condition for not being mounted. Both that i have have small holes and very aged paper. There is no way of telling without a paper annalasis good luck
