Today I purchased a 14" x 26" reproduction sign that brings back fond memories of the series LONESOME DOVE. Robert Duvall had long been on my top 10 favorite actors list just 1 notch below John Wayne. Duvall's portrayal of Augustus McCrae moved him up a notch ahead of Wayne. I was blown away by the range of his acting (or was he acting?). His tenderness with Lorena and Clara portrayed the true nature of a Texan and their respect for women. Unfortunately that same respect is not taught enough anymore.

I found the books to be a bit odd, but I did like both them and the movie(s?); been a long time since I read or saw them.
Charlie don't surf. Duvall in apocalypse now and Godfather are some of my favourite movies by him.
Great movie, one of the best actors of all time.
Thank You Guys for your comments. I imagine Robert Duvall has a huge fan club.
Google Robert Duvall and you can learn a lot about the mini-series/movie.
Lonesome Dove was great. I like the AMC movie he did. I think it is called Free Range.
You are so right, Duvall's range was incredible, back from his early days on Twilight Zone in "The Miniatures" to all his fine films, he could even do accents well (the film about tango dancing), just a wonderful actor to have in your top ten
Thank You for sharing your love for Duvall's work Ms.CrystalShip. Brought back a lot of fond memories.
I love that movie :)
