Mystery watercolor

Even though I have cut my collecting of paintings and prints back to almost nothing, I still occasionally buy something just as a research opportunity and put it on my Lost Artists Blog if I can't figure it out in a reasonable amount of time. A couple of my subscribers love solving these mysteries. I picked this watercolor up today in Champaign, IL. It is 15" x 20", so nearly a half sheet. It looked to be the work of an accomplished artist, albeit with some odd color choices. A bit of research didn't turn up anything, mainly perhaps because I can't quite make out the signature. At first I thought it was "TAHAKA" but then noticed that the "H" is stylized and might be an "IH" or HI", but none of these combinations led me to the artist. The back of the work is covered in practice painting of figures, trees and buildings so a very interesting piece and a window into the artist's methods. It was framed and matted under glass for $4.99 before my senior discount, so cheap entertainment. I'll try for a bit longer and then put it on my blog site. The University of Illinois is in Urbana/Champaign, so a lot of artists and teachers have cycled through there over the years, some of some note and many more who are anonymous.;
