I took my own photos and made some observation revisions to my last description.
A 30" 1870's Tooled Leather, strap and dowel, Barrel Stave Trunk. The Brass lock marked PHILADA with a star and key logo (I believe the last two letters missed when stamping) the latch retains 1854, 1867, 1868 & the latest date of 1870 with the plate being 1869. The exterior as mention is in exception shape for the age and will not be removed. It does have a small blip on the back top center in the leather. It is not enough in my books to to scrape all for the blip on the back. The slats are in excellent crisp condition. The handles are gone but the very RARE handle mounts are still present, each with a depiction of a ship anchor. I found only one trunk that had this type of handle mounts in my quest and they were on an 1870's Martin Maier oak slat trunk. Thought that was interesting. The bottom is in excellent shape and still has an original stencil title on it " BARREL TOP 30" No 2 " The interior is mostly complete and in very nice shape, but someone removed the tray's compartment wood dividers. The original strap buckles are loose but still present. This trunk measures 30" L x 19" D x 24" H

Thanks guys for the comments and the loves always appreciated!! Trunkman this one is out of Ottawa 2 hrs from you. The owner said he bought it from the owners of the house he now lives in and they were antique dealers. I can see they why they kept it for personal.

I was kind of wondering if it was associated with the maker as in "Anchor Trunk Co." for example, but after checking Jims site HMS antique trunks maker list I drew a blank. I half expected to find it to be such. I did find ANCHOR BRAND by FRIEDBERG-GRUNAUER but can't find as of yet if they were around in 1870's.
