At least I'm pretty sure the smaller of these two was intended to be such, due to the molded rim/indentation on its underside. And I kinda think I remember another one or two very much like it on desks at the office where my Dad worked, several decades ago. ;-) :-) The larger one, lacking those details, *might* have simply been a lens for something else (light fixture??) but has a chip on its (double-ground) outer edge and several scratches to its flat surface, seeming to suggest it has also most recently been used on 'desk duty'. The smaller one is a little over 3" across and roughly 1-3/4" thick, the larger is about 4-1/2" x 1-1/4".

Might be for looking at photo negatives.

Thanks SO much to fortapache, Brunswick, TassieDevil, racer4four, Trey, & aura for dropping by and tapping the <love it> button!! Trey -- thanks also for your comment, you could certainly be correct for at least the smaller of these which, with its indented bottom shape, is actually a slightly stronger magnifier than the other. I still havta guess the larger one was actually intended to be a 'something else' -- if only because it was found at the estate sale of someone who also had a large collection of *actual* pretty gla$$ paperweight$, but I found it outside with the 'garage stuff' instead...?
