Small ceramic frog shaped paper weight, I think. Don’t know what other function this piece can have. It is marked with a heart shape and written within it says “ made in Japan ”. There is a second stamp mark probably the artist and it is hard to read and written in Japanese. I need help to identify object and also if I’m wrong what function does it serve, if any. Might just be a piece of art. Thanks for looking.

I think it is a frog-shaped flower arranging frog as the previous commenter says.
Put it in the bottom of your container or vase, add water, arrange your fresh flowers. The frog holds the bottoms of the flower stems and keeps your arrangement just as you want it to be.
Ceramic/glazed so it can stay submerged in water.

Thanks watchsearcher, that makes sense. Now I know what it does, still working on identification of maker.
