Spotted this little dog in the window of a charity shop on my latest trip today. He was down on the floor facing forward in the window and was so shiny and gold he was the first thing I spotted in the window so of course being obligated to take home any brass animal I see I walked in and has to ask 'how much is the doggy in the window?!' The reply to this was €4 (£3.56/ $4.63)
He's made of solid brass and is extremely heavy and shiny-no marks or stamps on him anywhere and in regards to his breed he certainly is a gun dog of some kind (and a very intent one at that!)- maybe a German Pointer? Or Red Setter?
Brass is my favorite metal. Really nice to handle, which also polishes it. Nice brass dog!
Thanks alot kwqd! We polished him as soon as we got him home- he sparkles like pure gold!
I LOVE him Lauren, he's so gorgeous! The pose is very lively, as if he is on the hunt chasing a rabbit. Pointer would be my guess because of the tail, but when I posted a jewelry piece like this, setter owners said it looked like their dog, so I think either is right
Gosh Lauren, isn't he wonderful! Love him very much:-)
Thanks Newfld- my granddad who's really into gun dogs says he's a setter, because Pointers have thinner tails I think?
Thanks TassieDevil!!!
The dog is a setter as they have longer hair than a pointer. They are used to hunt quail, grouse and pheasant and freeze but tremble if you look closely when they smell one of these birds.
Ya that's what we thought so too after looking more closely at him Sewing53
He's awesome Lauren! Great find!
Thanks jscotto363!
