I can't resist picking up what I think are vintage brooches, earrings, etc. at yard sales. It irks me though that I have no way to identify or date pieces if they don't have any markings. Can anyone suggest a good source for identifying and dating vintage jewelry? Or better yet, identify the pieces I have posted? I am especially interested in what the rhinestones in the blue piece are called. Finally, can you use super glue to reattach a rhinestone if it fell out? Thanks -- you guys are the best.

Thank you! Where would I find an epoxy adhesive? Craft store?

I had typed a reply but the spirits are against me this evening!

Search for vintage brooches on 'Etsy', or if you know who made the piece you can look up their name for information. eBay has a good selection too. You can look for: vintage; costume; 1950's, 1940's jewelery for instance.

Above is a search I did on Etsy. There are many books and magazines about costume jewelery out there too.

CW is an excellent source as well:

I would say illusion jewels. https://www.illusionjewels.com/research/costumejewelrymarks.html

      Great articles too.
As for adhesive i use G-S hypo cement.

The top one i think it is Lisner, stone is aurora borealis. Bottom one i think either Coro or Avon....not sure.

      Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the helpful advice. I think the first one is a Coro -- there is a very faint "Coro" next to a C in a circle (for copyright?)

I will use the right glue -- I would be very sad if a gem fell out.Impossible to replace, no?

Can anyone make a suggestion as to where to purchase replacement rhinestones? I have a tiny Coro brooch that is missing a stone. I would love to repair it myself but have no clue as to how to determine size, shape, etc. and where to purchase. Any guidance appreciated.
